No streetlights. That is something I’ve learned to greatly appreciate. In the non-snow months when it is dark out, it is dark. If the sky is clear of clouds you can see every one against a sky so black Crayola should name a crayon after it. ‘Black-as-a-night-without-streetlights’ perhaps…? If you happen to be driving it is almost an eerie feeling to look in the rear-view mirror out of habit and see absolutely nothing. The exception to this is winter. The blanketing snow lights up the night as each flake mirrors the moonlight. We went for a walk this evening after sundown and I only used the flashlight I carried to make us visible to the occasional passing car. Things take on a shade of dark blue that I can’t even think of descriptors for; it's just its own color. Again I think Crayola should get on that. ‘Snowy-moonlit-night-without-streetlights’…?
